Thesis

General Information

Staff

As part of the degree programmes at the UDE, we also supervise final theses in degree programmes that are thematically close to our field of study. Our theses usually consist of a practical part, for which programming skills are required, a written paper, and a final presentation (colloquium). In addition, it is useful to write a 1- to 2-page exposé before starting the work. You will discuss the specific implementation with your supervisor.
The final thesis follows the guidelines laid down in your examination regulations. Please consult the relevant part of your examination regulation for further information: Angewandte Informatik, Komedia, ISE

Supervision of External Theses

Generally we only supervise theses in companies and other external institutions in exceptional circumstances.
Should you have a valid reason or special requirements, please contact us by mail and provide all relevant information to us. We will then assess the existing circumstances and make a decision on a case-by-case basis.

Open Topics

If there are current open topics, they are listed on our teaching page.

In addition to the topics listed here, questions regularly arise in our research and teaching activities where an examination is suitable for a student thesis. If you are interested in our fields of work (see completed theses and publications), you can contact one of the researchers listed above directly, even if no topic is currently open for public.

Template

For writing the thesis we recommend the typesetting system LaTeX. The use of LaTeX is not mandatory, but we recommend it and provide some support for it. We cannot provide support for other writing tools.
It is therefore advisable to familiarize yourself with LaTeX before writing your thesis (e.g. for seminar papers or final reports for study projects).
Our LaTeX template can be found here.
